Ways to Engage with Stocks in the Future and its Community

Long Term Commitments

Board Member – 2 year term, 4 quarterly meetings (Wednesday mornings 7:30 – 9 a.m. at the JHU School of Education.) Board members serve on committees, contribute board dues of $1000, solicit corporate giving and attend SIF events. Nomination goes to executive committee and the board votes on each nomination. Board terms may be extended upon review of executive committee.

Committee Member – One year commitment, 4 quarterly meetings generally late afternoons from 4:30- 6 p.m. Committee members give annually during “Giving Tuesday,” attend SIF events and can extend their term each year.

Short Term Commitments

SIF Fundraising Events

Baltimore Running Festival – Held Mid-October; SIF needs 50+ runners to participate in the race and collect pledges, volunteers to work the day of the race and people to serve on the Run Committee to manage the event.

March Market Madness – SIF’s signature event, held during a weekday evening at Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Campus. It’s an evening of fun which includes networking, an arcade basketball contest, silent auction and guest speakers. SIF needs committee members to manage the event and 25+ volunteers to work the evening of the event.

SIF Guest Speakers

Financial professionals visit SIF classes and talk about what they do in the finance industry and how it relates to the Stocks in the Future Curriculum. Topics include, “How to plan a Budget,” “How to Interrupt an Annual Report,” Diversification in a Mutual Funds,” “Understanding Compound Interest.”

SIF also invites financial professionals to present during SIF Teacher Training sessions & during SIF field trips.
